Rod Dominish, a veteran hasher, who has been to Fiji almost 20 times, has given his blessings to the inaugural Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital-sponsored Pan Asia-Pacific Hash that will be held in Fiji in September, 2027.

Dominish, who began his running with the Sydney Hash House Harriers way back in 1967, went on to establish the Wagga Wagga Hash House Harriers in 1974 and has remained loyal to the chapter ever since.

The veteran, who is in his 80s, is currently with his family on a holiday and is staying at the Wyndham Resort on Denarau Island.

“I have been around the world to participate in international hash events, and this is my 20th visit to Fiji,” he said.

Dominish is looking forward to being part of the inaugural PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash in September, 2027, and he thanked the sponsors for coming on board at such a crucial time.

The Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital-sponsored inaugural Pan Asia-Pacific Hash is scheduled to be held in Nadi from September 16-18, 2027.

Event director Dr Ram Raju, emeritus grand master of Nadi Hash House Harriers, says September will be an ideal month to host the inaugural PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash.

“You might ask why we have chosen September, 2027 and believe me there are several reasons,” Dr Raju said.

He said in March, 2025, the Aussie Nashash will be hosted by Australia and the Fiji contingent would be present to gain support from fellow Australians and other participating hash house members.

“In November, 2025, the 20th edition of the Pan Asia Hash will be held in Taiwan and some of us are already registering for that while in May, 2026 Indonesia will host the Interhash in Prambanan-Mendut.”

Dr Raju believes all these international events will lead to a successful PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash in Nadi come September, 2027.

“It will be an off-peak season in Fiji, so good hotel rates could be secured while the weather would be ideal at that time of year as well. We have time on our side.”

The event is being jointly organised by the three chapters of Hash clubs in Nadi — Nadi, Malolo and Hospital Hash House Harriers.
